Accessible Hotel
I was away for the weekend and had a fairly good experience at the Hampton Inn in Smithtown Rhode Island. The room itself was spacious enough for me to navigate without too much difficulty but I couldn’t find a convenient outlet for charging the chair. We found an outlet behind the refrigerator. Unfortunately the outlet was on the same circuit as the lights and we didn’t realize that the charger turned off when we shut the lights off for the night. I was lucky that I spent most of the next day in the car traveling.
The Bathroom was very large and I was able to easily get my power chair into it. The toilet had grab bars on the side near the wall but it didn’t have a pull down bar on the open side. I need bars on both sides so for me so that was a problem. Rather than a lipless shower it had a tub. Fortunately I was only gone for one night and wasn’t planning on showering.
I will give the hotel a score of 7 out of 10.
